When I was in the process of applying to companies for my internship, my friend referred me to a job posting for the position of Systems Intern at GetCre8ive. I gave it a try and, after going through the application process, I got accepted for the position. A few months have passed since receiving that news and now I have come to the end of my internship with GetCre8ive, so let me share with you some of my experiences.
A typical work day starts at 9:00 AM by attending the check-in call where everyone mentions their agenda for the day. The rest of the day is dedicated towards completing deliverables along with ensuring that I fulfill my day-to-day responsibilities such as attending onboarding meetings with clients, attending content alignment meetings for workshops, and managing HubSpot (eg: tracking service tickets, creating workflows, creating marketing emails, etc). The day ends at 5:00 PM where we conduct a check-out call to share our hurdles as well as what we were able to accomplish.
There were two main projects assigned to me: (1) to create a chatbot for the official website and Facebook page and (2) to provide recommendations for a possible website redesign.
In creating the chatbot, I began by making a flowchart that enumerated the messages of the bot, possible responses from the customers, and the flow of the conversation. I researched examples of and best practices for chatbots before the actual implementation through HubSpot using its existing functionalities. The software is already integrated with Facebook Messenger and the website which made it easier to launch the chatbot. Overall, I gained valuable insights in providing customer support.
Besides this, the highlight of my experience was providing recommendations for improvements on the official website. As someone who only has basic knowledge of UX/UI design, it was a bit of a challenge for me to give insights that equally relied on intuition and data. I learned as I went by consulting and referring to resource people, online tools, and design platforms to come up with a comprehensive and well-thought out report. Along with the analysis, I made it a point to present a prototype which I envisioned for the website. I got hands-on experience in creating a sample landing page which took a long time and required so much effort. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the activity which opened the door for me towards honing my skills in UX/UI design.
Overall, I was able to gain a better understanding of my likes and dislikes as well as my priorities when it comes to my career. I value the time I was able to work with GetCre8ive Corporation and will carry with me all the learnings I was able to pick up with them.
