Strengths Philippines 2021: Breaking Through

Written by Sarah Buendia | Dec 21, 2021 12:14:35 AM

Gallup-certified Strengths coaches and business leaders of Strengths-based organizations got together once again in 2021 to talk about how to break through with Strengths at work and in life.

The year 2021 has given us both challenges and triumphs, many of them for the first time, as we continued to face the uncertainties of the future. It goes without saying that the pandemic changed the way we work and live. Which is why we look forward to Strengths Philippines Conference - the biggest one in the world since 2018 - because we get to discuss and share the wisdom we gained through both our shared and unique experiences.

Strengths For Every Part of Your Life

Strengths Philippines 2021 was held last October 22-23, a two-day conference that focuses on strengths in the individual level and as a team. It boasts 700+ registrations, a breaking record since it started in the country in 2015, and was hosted on Whova for the first time. It covers a wide variety of topics, from career, personal growth, leadership, and more.

The conference opens with Coach Pia Acevedo, Founder of Strengths Philippines, and Coaches Arvy Villamarzo and Tina Alafriz, welcoming us into the conference through a reminder that strengths is all about embracing our own uniqueness and the uniqueness in others.

Day 1: Discovering Our Strengths and Where to Use Them

The first day had 7 plenary sessions led by several Strengths Champions in a wide variety of fields.

Starting with Jim Collison's "Leadership Success with the new CliftonStrengths for Managers Report – Everyone Manages Something" where he encourages us to have meaningful goals, to Vina Cruz' and Valerie Fischer's "Life Reboot Using Strengths" where they discuss how you can use Strengths in life transitions, to Hazel Atencio's reminders on how we can use the power of gratitude.

Day 2: Creating "Unique" Breakthroughs

The second day opens with Coach Arvy, Coach Pia and GetCre8ive's own Chief Advocate, Sarah Medilo introducing Danny Lee, who kicks off the day's plenaries with "Strengths-based Well-being: Your Unique Strategy". In his session, he talks about how well-being can mean many different things depending on who a person is, and how our differences and uniqueness make "well-being" mean differently from one person to another. Later we explore a framework that helped us create our own "well-being strategy."

The rest of the day was filled with plenaries on the theme "Breaking Through," with contexts that range from student life to professional life, and more.

In Saurav Atri's plenary entitled "The Great Resignation: How Investing in Strengths Development Can Help in Employee Retention" we explore the idea that employee resignations is a workplace issue versus an individual issue - and how to prevent the Great Discontent leading to an outflow of talented employees. Using CliftonStrengths, we are provided with insights into how people think, behave, and feel and how we can use these insights to create a better workplace.

The day also introduced several breakout discussions where hundreds participated to talk about their own experiences and thoughts about the plenary.

A Celebration of 2021 Breakthroughs

The conference closes on a triumph - with record-breaking registrations and participation.

It also gave out various awards for special participation for some of the attendees.

Coach Pia, Coach Sarah and Coach Arvy thanked and congratulated all the keynote speakers, attendees, and everyone behind Strengths Philippines for a great turnout this year.

Missed the Conference? Don't worry! We have them uploaded on Whova so you can check them out anytime.
