My GCC Internship Journey (David A. D'Angelo Jr.)

Blog BannerThe last months of my college life have been a rollercoaster of events and emotions. At first, I was intimidated by the thought of having to go out into the industry. I always ask myself, will I even be qualified? Looking for the right fit was definitely something that scared me, there are only limited options as to what is presented to me. But there is always one company that I had my eyes upon. It is the only company that I encountered at the university which really captured my interest. I knew that if I wanted to be part of a company with the values and culture that aligns with my own and will make me happy to be there this is it.

HI! I am David A. D'Angelo Jr.

From Our Lady of Fatima University, in my 4th year as a graduating student.

In our last semester, we had to undergo an internship through the University's industry partners or a company of our choosing.

This is our first step to truly becoming a member of the industry.

So during my mock interview with our Dean of College and also our Mentor for the internship, I seized the moment and personally asked if I could be recommended here. I believe that if I wanted to make something happen in my life I had to take the opportunity and prove not to the world but to myself that I can do it. Here I am now writing about my experience and I wanted to share how Getcre8ive Corporation has given me a place to belong both as a professional and an individual.

One of the highlights of my college life is my internship here at GCC. I think that most of my classmates have not been satisfied with the company they were accepted into and felt that the experience is lacking. That is extremely common and something I feared as well which is why I gave my best effort to be here. Stepping out of my comfort zone and really making the experience something I would not regret.

My Interview here at GCC really lightens up the mood since in my perspective the way they do things has a very sincere element. Like they see as a person and not just another part of a machine that comprises the company. Though their process takes longer it is certainly worth it.  Through careful screening and evaluation of my values and skills, I was accepted. They offer very generous compensation for my hard work which greatly increases my morale as it already is. The internship in itself is very intensive but also very personal.

Before I begin we had a briefing about what to expect and curated my schedule to fit my time and academics. Here is the schedule that I created:

David Weekly Schedule

I think in my period as an intern with them I am very fortunate because my schedule was way out of the usual so I am the only intern. It felt like I was really involved with the company and that I belong to the team. It all started with a wholesome introduction from the whole team to an everyday event. Daily, there are meetings that allow interns like me to take part and share my experiences such as learning and hurdles. They saw potential in me and nurtured that potential all throughout the internship.

Some of the projects I have worked on in GCC include socmed posts, e-books, emails, landing pages, banners, marketing campaigns, page development, and an online hug event. I was also given the chance to be a part of various onboarding sessions which gave me an overview of different avenues available at their great company. Being here I truly felt like I could excel and grow, this company is full of great people and amazing talent. They call it the A-team and I am very proud to be a part of it.

Another thing that I would like to mention is how accommodating my internship supervisor has been. Ms. Samantha Lumang is an amazing mentor and great communicator, every meeting we had was very light and felt kind of natural. Mainly because she was able to break the ice right from the beginning which establishes the mood. She was also very open to my needs since as graduating student there's a lot that I need to finish and accomplish along with the internship, especially in my academics. Definitely set an example for me and speaking of great examples, in terms of the onboarding and more technical topics in HubSpot nothing really beats Sir Ley as to how he conducts himself and how he teaches his technical prowess to clients.

I can talk all day about the members of the team, a.k.a the A-Team but I would also like to leave some information up to your imagination. As I have mentioned they are all really excellent people that are very unique and yet share the same goals and embody the values of the company.

That is what makes this internship such a great experience and the highlight of my college life.

So would you like to be a GetCre8ive intern and be part of the A-Team? 😊
